Safety
Off: the AI can still use the built-in tools (layers, text, keyframes, effects...) but not free-form scripts. Every AI action is one Undo step (Ctrl+Z).
On: for bigger jobs the AI writes a plan first and can't build until you press Approve here (or say so in chat).
How the AI should work in your After Effects: workflow, timing, easing, naming, style. Every AI app reads these when it connects. Plain text / Markdown.
Images, video, stock media and chat models for your AI, the services behind them, limits, updates and checks. The defaults work: change these only when you need to.

New versions come from the website you installed from. They install in the background; restart After Effects to finish.

When After Effects is closed, your AI app can start it minimized, build, and render in the background (ae_launch, ae_render).
Makes a small test comp, animates it, renders a frame and a 1-second MP4, then deletes the comp. Takes 10-30 seconds.
